Upscale Resale continues to produce record revenues, but its success depends on you showing up for your monthly shift on the sales floor. There are many non-sales tasks that you can do when you’re not manning the cash register: hang priced clothes, sort and price donations, display housewares, clear the dressing rooms, or dress mannequins. Anytime during your shift that you aren’t helping a customer, please lend a hand to help keep the shop stocked and attractive.
TRADING SHIFTS: When trading your monthly shift with another member, please record both people’s schedule changes in the book under the jewelry counter in the shop AND call either Jean Gurucharri or Judy Carter so they can record the shift changes. Day managers need to remind the correct person to work the next day. ALSO: please stay for your entire shift time, arriving 10 minutes prior to the shift and stay until everyone for the next shift arrives at the shop.
SELF-DEALING: We all need to be careful that we don’t accidentally do anything which could be considered self-dealing. Problems with self-dealing could cause negative publicity and risk our not-for-profit status. Self-dealing is anything which gives our members an advantage over the public customer. That means:
SECURITY: Please do not give anyone your ALMM key to use to bring donations while the shop is closed. For their safety and our security, you should accompany them or have them come during retail or restocking hours (Monday mornings). Make sure the back door is locked when you leave! We don’t want uninvited guests on our premises. Non-members should not be in the Upscale backroom or office area unless accompanied by a member.
While working your shift at Upscale Resale, please greet all shoppers and take turns circulating on the floor to discourage shop lifting. One person always stays at the desk near the cash register.
DONATIONS: Please hold Christmas decorations at home, especially big, boxed trees, etc., as well as other holiday items until a couple months before the event, since the shop storage is limited. Please screen your donations to make sure they’re “upscale” and clean – anything questionable (i.e.: broken, dirty, faded, moldy basement smelling) should be given to the trash man! It makes a big difference in the work load if our members will pre-sort their donations and not expect other members to do it for them.
